Due to inclement weather, Monticello Elementary School will be holding a virtual learning day on February 20, 2026. Your child’s classroom teacher will be reaching out to guardians via email this morning. The teachers will send an email regarding instructions on where to find the curriculum, what needs to be completed, and a way to get a hold of them if you need help.

Active participation in the language arts and math lessons tomorrow will count for your child’s daily attendance. This work will be required and graded for your child. Our virtual learning will focus on Language Arts, Math and Reading Fluency. Please call or email the school by 10 am if your child will not be participating in the virtual day. We will mark them as absent and their teacher will not continue to reach out to you throughout the day.

I am excited for this opportunity for a virtual day instead of a make up day later. I hope that we can have as many people complete their tasks as possible. I know that there will be some kinks in the process, but if we can work through them we will perfect this process for later. Please feel free to let us know anything that can help improve a virtual learning experience in the future. Thank you for your help and let's do the best that we can tomorrow.

If you have not received communication by 10:00 am, please reach out to the school at (435)678-1180. We will be answering phone calls all day. We will be able to connect you to whomever you need to reach, so please feel free to call. I will also be available via email all day. If you are having problems you can reach me at jolson@sjsd.org.

Dear Parents,

I thought that a quick note should be sent regarding your children being sent home with their Chromebooks. It is MES' procedure that when there is a Winter Storm Warning or more than 6 inches of snow is on the horizon we send Chromebooks home with students. If there was to be an actual Snow Day we would send you a message through this same platform that I am using right now. Most likely this would be done the morning of the virtual Snow Day or a late start day. If you do not hear from the school, that means that school will be held as usual. If you have any questions about this process please email me at jolson@sjsd.org or call the school at (435)678-1180. Thank you for your support in this process. Stay safe!

We have been made aware of an issue with incoming calls from AT&T cell phones to our system. This is a problem that other businesses are also encountering. The problem is between Frontier and AT&T; they are aware of it and addressing it. We don't have an ETA on the repair.

Due to the Winter Storm Warning taking effect at 6 PM tonight, we are sending Chromebooks home as a precaution. No decision has been made about a virtual learning day, but we want students to be prepared if needed. If a virtual day is announced, I will notify you via text and email through Thrillshare. If you don’t receive a message, school will be held as normal. Please remind your child to charge their Chromebook and keep it safe. If a charger is needed, contact the school or teacher. If school proceeds as usual, students must bring their Chromebooks back tomorrow. I will share updates as they become available. Stay safe and warm!
